At one point at a previous job, I was close to an exterior door opening onto a roof area with some walkways. I needed to have a lot of spontaneous meetings, so it was really convenient to step outside for quick and private conversations. But the door would always lock behind us. so I designed and printed this, which fits over the push-latch and keeps the door latch disengaged so it could be opened from the outside when the rooftop meetings were done. Worked like a charm.
But there was always a compliance and security risk associated with such a device, and hence I was sure to label it as not approved for general use so that people would know not to use it.
This is printed in a nylon filament with embedded chopped carbon fiber. it is very strong and has the evil texture of things printed with carbon fiber filaments.
